Our congratulations go to this year’s seniors for being selected as the 2021 UFCW Local 1459 Scholarship Fund Recipients. They have been awarded a grant from among many students who applied for this scholarship.
Jacob is the son of Local 1459 member Amy Couture, who works as a Chicopee School Nurse. He graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 2021 and will be attending STCC. Jacob plans on obtaining an Associated Degree in Science with a concentration in Electrical Engineering.
Collin is the son of Local 1459 member Annette Kendra, who works as a Chicopee School Nurse. He graduated from Chicopee High School in 2021 and will be attending Merrimack College. Collin will major in Business Administration and is looking forward to learning the many aspects the program has to offer.
Evan is the son of Local 1459 member Kimberlee Manioudakis, who works as a Chicopee School Nurse. He graduated from The MacDuffie School in 2021 and plans on attending Wentworth. Evan plans on studying Engineering with a concentration in Aerospace.
Joseph is a member of Local 1459 who is an employee of Stop & Shop in Springfield. He graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 2021 and plans on attending UMASS Amherst.
Antonio is a member of Local 1459 who is an employee of Stop & Shop in Feeding Hills. He graduated from Agawam High School in 2020 and currently attends Western New England University. Antonio is in the Pre-Pharmacy program working towards obtaining his Pharmacy degree.
Ryan is the son of Local 1459 member Jill Sweeney, a Chicopee School Cafeteria employee. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 2021 and will be attending St. Anselm College. Ryan will major in Criminal Justice with a minor in Accounting.
Everyone should be very proud to have won this most prestigious Union honor, since recipients of this scholarship must exemplify academic excellence, scholastic achievement and pride in UFCW Local 1459.
Certainly, we at UFCW Local 1459 are proud to be part of ensuring that talent, motivation, intellectual excellence and union pride are duly rewarded. We know that no matter which institution of higher learning that these recipients graduate from, they will always remember that a Union helped them achieve their academic goals. Thus, we wish them the very best of fortune in their future endeavors and once again, we congratulate them on being exemplary scholars!
