JCPenney Closes Stores, Lays Off Thousands

Is understaffing part of the problem?

Last week, JCPenney announced that the company would close nearly 40 stores, costing 2,250 workers their jobs. JCPenney workers across the country are preparing to close their stores by the beginning of April.

The closures represent nearly 4 per cent of JCPenney locations, and follows the failed reinvention plan by former CEO Ron Johnson.
