Union Members Rally in Boston for Fairness at Fairpoint Communications

Dozens of union members representing several different unions came out in Boston on November 20th to support striking workers at Fairpoint Communications. There are currently 1,700 IBEW and CWA members striking against Fairpoint Communications as a result of Fairpoint’s unfair cuts to pensions, wages and benefits. On November 20th there was a meeting at the Taj Hotel in Boston attended by Angelo, Gordon & Co., a Wall Street hedge fund that owns more than 20% of Fairpoint’s stock. Representatives from Angelo, Gordon were met by supporters of the striking Fairpoint workers and urged to intervene in Fairpoint Communications’ unfair labor practices and force them to negotiate a fair contract that will bring good service back to New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.
