STATEMENT FROM MASS. AFL-CIO PRESIDENT STEVEN A. TOLMAN ON THE PASSING OF FORMER BOSTON MAYOR THOMAS M. MENINO

Malden, MA – Thursday October 30, 2014 – “Today, the City of Boston lost a favorite son. Mayor Menino dedicated his life to the city he loved. Whether it was throwing out the first pitch of the Parkway Little League season or spear-heading the development of the South Boston waterfront, the Mayor led with the interest of Boston’s families closest to his heart.

Throughout his tenure as mayor, working people could always take solace in that they always had a seat at the table. He shared our vision of economic fairness, social equality and the notion that every citizen should have access to a decent job that pays a living wage.

On behalf of the over 400,000 working families of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, we send our deepest condolences to Mayor Menino’s family. His legacy will live on through every street corner he cleaned up, every neighborhood he fought for and every life he improved.”
