RVC: Last week, grocery workers were classified as first responders by the state and eligible for priority covid testing when requested through their employer.  We interpret this to also mean co-op grocery workers.  RVC set up 3 members who requested testing and two others were initially denied though they were also later approved.  Anyone receiving pushback is urged to contact the Union.  We fought to get this option and co-op workers deserve it too.

RVC: There is a new executive order from the Governor's office designating grocery workers as first responders for the purpose of priority covid testing. This is something Local 1459 has pushed for in conjunction with the Mass AFL-CIO State Federation.  The program starts April 11, by appointment in West Springfield.

RVC: we had a zoom meeting to discuss a temporary parking proposal from the employer whereby 45 additional spaces across the street would be open for April.  This would further support safe distancing as the shuttle can only take about 4/5 people.  Members are being surveyed in the next day to get a sense of the group.

RVC. We bargained $2/hr. more and increase into PTO fund by the Co-op.  We will revisit things every 2 weeks.  Also paid time off may help here too but we don’t understand the law well enough yet and there are other proposals in the pipeline.  They are doing curbside pick up and I have allowed non-union help between 5-9am if no one wants to work (which might happen). Reduced hours.
