UFCW Local 700 members who work at the Kroger J1 store in Indianapolis celebrated their wall-to-wall union store status when the last nonmember at the store joined our union family in June.

UFCW Statement on the AG and Legal Workforce Act

Marc Perrone, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), issued the following statement regarding the AG and Legal Workforce Act, H.R. 6417. This bill creates a new H-2C visa program that will expand the definition of an agricultural guestworker to include meat, poultry, shellfish and other food processing jobs.

“The so-called AG and Legal Workforce Act will destroy American jobs and put the safety of our food supply at significant risk.

PRESIDENT DAN CLIFFORD RETIRES!

On May 31, 2018 and after forty (40) years in the labor movement, President Dan Clifford officially retired!
 
His leadership and wisdom are immeasurable and cannot be easily replaced.  Like most labor leaders, Dan began his career as an organizer with the UFCW International Union.  In 1982, he was hired by Local 1459 where he soon became the union representative of our school bus division.  In 2003, Dan was appointed to Secretary-Treasurer of the Local and in 2010 appointed to President of Local 1459 with the retirement of Scott Macey.
